Live Cricket Score: Nine balls were bowled into the second session on day five; Indian Captain Virat Kohli declared their second innings on 298/8 & set a target of 272 for England to chase off 60 overs on day five of the Lord’s test.
Shame 56* off 70 & Bumrah 34* off 64 were successful in irritating England’s bowlers throughout the morning session & added 89 runs for the 9th wicket to give India an edge over England going into the final two sessions. Resuming day five on 181/6, India suffered a major blow after Rishabh Pant was sent back to the pavilion by Ollie Robinson as he hit the ball & handed it to Jos Butler. He departed for just 22 runs off 46 balls. Ishant Sharma who played some stunning shots was sent back to the pavilion after scoring 16. Ollie Robinson starred with the ball for England by removing Ishant Sharma & Rishabh Pant from the crease.
After the dispersal of Ishant Sharma, India’s lower order Jasprit Bumrah & Mohammed Shami kept the England bowlers at bay. Even delivering short balls didn’t work well for England as Bumrah & Shami were facing it cautiously. Soon the duo of Bumrah-Shami completed their 50 runs stand-off 72 balls. There was no stopping for Mohammed Shami as he hit 4 & a six in two consecutive deliveries against Moeen Ali to register his gleaming half-century.
Only after 1.3 overs in the second session, India declared their innings & gave England a mammoth target to chase on the final day. This is the first time in ten innings that James Anderson went wicketless against India at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
