KKR captain Eoin Morgan appreciated the fighting spirit shown by his team against Chennai in yesterday’s clash. He also said that Pat Cummins with his heroics with bat nearly took KKR over the target against CSK.
At one point, KKR was left struggling at 31/5. But thanks to Andre Russell & Pat Cummins who played gutsy knocks of 54 & 66 to keep KKR alive in the chase of massive 220 runs. However, CSK managed to caught KKR in the last two overs to register an outstanding victory. Chasing the target KKR had a bad start as none of the team’s top order could manage to settle on the crease. As CSK’s Deepak Chahar fetched four crucial wickets of KKR. In the end, the gutsy knock of Russell & Cummins went in vain as CSK won the match by 18 runs at the ‘Stadium of Dream’s Wankhede.
“First five-six overs were hurting but the best part of today playing here reiterates that we are never out of any game. We have an unbelievable squad, an unbelievable talent that could match any team in the competition. And if we need reminding of that today is the game where it happens”, Morgan said in a video posted on KKR’s Official Twitter handle.
“Andre & Dinesh for that partnership are absolutely unbelievable. Well done guys & pat. Putting us in a position where we had a genuine opportunity of winning the match”, Morgan added. Despite facing three consecutive loss in a trot, Morgan still feels that there were many positives from the match. “I think everybody should leave the found today on a positive note, really high spirited. We have not come anywhere near our capabilities today & we have nearly beat a team who are in really good form”, he said. Eoin Morgan led team won one match out of four matches & will next come into a face-off against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday.
