Finally the BCCI has suspended its Partnership with Vivo for the IPL 2020!

The BCCI on Thursday suspended the IPL title sponsorship deal with Chinese Smartphone Company Vivo for the upcoming IPL’s edition amid the rising China-India diplomatic tensions.

The BCCI has released an online statement without giving any details & said that Vivo will not be the associated with the IPL this year. “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Vivo Mobile India Pvt Ltd have decided to suspend their partnership for Indian Premier League in 2020,” the BCCI press release stated. Vivo was entitled with the IPL title sponsorship rights for a term of five years from 2018 to 2022 after paying a sum of Rs 2190 crore approximately Rs 440 crore per annum.

The BCCI is likely to release a tender for inviting new title sponsors which is mandatory as per the constitution law. The BCCI has also finalized the SOP for the IPL 2020 & has sent the SOP to all the franchises for a smooth conduct of the tournament.  

The SOP which was handed to the franchises the teams will have to use the spectators stand for dressing rooms purpose which will help them to maintain social distancing.certain essential guidelines & safety measures which needs to be followed by the franchises as well as the players participating in the IPL 2020.

Also the teams have been asked to use the electronic team sheets rather than captain holding the traditional hard copies of their playing XI list. In the SOP, Strict guidelines have also be given to the medical team including the physiotherapist & Masseurs that if they need to get in physical contact with any player for massage sessions etc they should wear PPE kits.

The IPL 2020 is slated to commence from September 19 & the Finals is scheduled on November 10th across three fixed venues i.e. Sharjah, UAE & Abu Dhabi.
