Former Australian leg spinner Stuart MacGill was abducted & then released after an hour in an alleged kidnapping in Sydney last month.
According to a media report, Stuart MacGill was abducted at a gunpoint from Cremorne. After being confronted by a 46-year-old man about 8 pm on April 14. After a while, the duo was approached by two other men who forced 50 years old MacGill into the vehicle.
Police further said that after MacGill was driven to a property an hour out of the city. Where he was allegedly assaulted & then threatened with a firearm before being released after an hour-long ordeal.
“After an extensive investigation, strike force detectives with assistance from Raptor squad. Along with the public order & riot squad, arrested four men of age 27, 29, 42 & 46 in the early hours of Wednesday,” Police said in a statement
“I know it was only an hour that he was held but it would have been a horribly frightful hour to endure,” NSW Police Superintendent Anthony Holton told media. According to Police one of MacGill’s kidnappers knew him before the incident took place.
Police also said that MacGill is still in a state of shock by the horrifying incident. The Police strike force & riot officers have arrested four men in the early hours of Wednesday. Although no ransom was paid, police believe that the kidnapping was financially motivated. MacGill was kidnapped for some financial gains.
The four accused who were arrested were in the process of being charged & were expected to appear in the court later on Wednesday.
MacGill is a known Australian bowler who has played 44 Test matches for Australia. MacGill was ranked the second-best spinner of all time after Shane Warne.
