Suryakumar’s dismissal in the 4th T20I became a ‘trending topic’ on Twitter with many including former cricketers showing disagreement on the decision of giving Suryakumar out on an ‘unsure catch’!
Suryakumar tried to hit a ramp shot off Sam Curran’s delivery & Dawid Malan coming in from the boundary seemed to take the catch. The On-field umpire Ananthapadmanabhan, while checking with the TV umpire, gave a ‘soft signal’ of out & then the third Umpire Virender Sharma after checking the replays several times upheld the on-field ‘Out’ decision.
England’s off-spinner Graeme Swann who is the commentator of the current series expressed his disagreement with the decision. Swan took to Twitter & tweeted, “Personally as a bowler I thought everything was out, I think that was a stinking decision”. Even England’s fast bowler Stuart Broad, who was a part of the Test squad agreed with Swann’s statement & he himself spoke about the decision, especially the on-field umpire’s soft signal.
“It’s the “soft signal” that is odd, Hard for the off-field umpire to overturn.’ Let’s go upstairs cause I don’t have a clue but I’m guessing (soft signal) that it’s out”, tweeted Broad.
“Malan’s Twitter feed will be ugly- but he wouldn’t have known the ball hit the ground diving forward at pace,” Broad further said.
Former India Cricketers Wasim Jaffer & Virender Sehwag also had their say on the decision by tweeting some mischievous tweets on Twitter.
Here is a glimpse of Wasim Jaffer & Virender Sehwag’s tweet:
Suryakumar Yadav was in spectacular form in his debut match by hitting a Big six on the very first ball of Jofra Archer which he faced & further went on to score his maiden half-century before being dismissed on 57 runs off 31 balls.
