Four Indian Women’s team players will feature in the Inaugural Edition of the Hundred!

The BCCI grants four Indian Women’s team players the permission to play in the Hundred tournament!

After an array of bad news, finally, good news came for the Indian Cricket Fraternity! Indian Women’s team got a huge boost as the BCCI has handed the No Objection Certificate to Indian Women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Deputy Smiriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues & Deepti Sharma to participate in the inaugural edition of ‘the hundred’ tournament.

A BCCI official confirmed the news & said that the players would benefit a lot from being a part of the Hundred League which is organized by the ECB. “We have handed NOC to four Indian women’s team players & they are Harmanpreet Kaur, Smiriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues & Deepti Sharma to go & participate in this new league”, the Official told Media.

ECB’s the Hundred featuring Eight teams will start from July 21!

The Hundred is an ECB’s league that will feature almost eight teams facing each other. The first match in the Hundred Tournament will be played between the Women’s team of Oval Invincibles & the Manchester Originals on July 21.

The BCCI granting NOC’s to the women’s team players means that the Indian women players’ stay will be extended in the UK. As India Women’s team is scheduled to play one test, three ODIS & three T20Is in June-July this year.

Harmanpreet Kaur, Smiriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues & Deepti Sharma had participated in the Kia Super League which is ECB’s domestic T20 Tournament. During the South Africa tour of India, Smiriti had said media that the BCCI & ECB are in constant touch regarding the NOCs for the Hundred.

The inaugural season of the hundred tournament was scheduled to be played last year but unfortunately, it got postponed due to the rising surge of the COVID-19 across the globe. However, after getting the NOC’s by the BCCI, the Indian Women’s team players are all set to showcase their skills on a bigger platform through the lucrative league, ‘the Hundred’.

You might be thinking what is ‘the Hundred’ tournament all about? So let us shed some light on what exactly the hundred tournament is & who will feature in this newly launched tournament!  The Hundred is a 100 balls Cricket Competition that will feature some prominent players from both men & women’s teams, participating in the tournament later this year in the English Summer season.
