After producing a match-winning knock of 59 runs against SRH, RCB all-rounder Glenn Maxwell said that he feels comforted for having talented AB De Villiers batting behind him in the batting order.
RCB thrashed SRH by six runs in a stupendous clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday. David Warner’s stunning half-century had put SRH on the verge of Victory but thanks to Shahbaz Ahmed who ran through their middle order to help RCB snatch victory from the hands of SRH. By defeating SRH RCB has registered its second consecutive win of the IPL 2021.
“It’s a very nice start for me, new franchise & they have given me a specific role. To start on a winning note is really nice. It’s nice to have talisman batters playing behind you. As you have freedom with AB to come after you & it’s a very similar kind of role I have in the Australian Cricket team. The support staff here has been backing me very well. It’s just about using the experience in the right direction. Get me in & then go for scoring runs. Probably have those guys behind me is a luxury which I enjoy at RCB”, Glenn Maxwell said host broadcaster Star Sports at the post-match presentation.
“I think it’s my 4th IPL team & there is a bit of pressure. So it was really important for me to turn up & do well. I will wait for my chance to bowl. Washi is a superstar for us. The more I don’t ball & keep contributing to the team’s success with the bat, the happier I will feel”, Maxwell added.
In yesterdays’ clash against SRH. RCB was sent to bat first. Glenn Maxwell scored a half-century to ensure that the RCB despite losing wickets at regular interval in the second half, could set up a total of 150 runs.
SRH was going on the winning track with Warner & Pandey stitching an 83 runs partnership for the second wicket down. But the team lost the winning plot in the middle overs. SRH was reduced from 96/1 to 123/6 within 4.4 overs. They managed to reach 143/9 in 20 overs. Shahbaz scalped three crucial wickets for RCB & delivered when RCB needed his service the most.
