Babar Azam grabs the top spot in the ICC Men’s ODI Rankings!
Pakistan Captain Babar Azam has overtaken Virat Kohli to grab the top spot in the ICC Men’s ODI Rankings. Babar Azam has become the fourth batsman from Pakistan to achieve the number one spot in the ICC Men’s ODI Rankings released on Wednesday.
Azam’s 94 runs off 82 balls in his last ODI match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Super League Series against South Africa has helped him to score 13 rating points to reach 865 points & currently he leads Virat Kohli by eight points.
Babar Azam is the star of the ICC under 19 Men’s Cricket World Cup held in 2010 & 2012. He has been playing the ODI series since 2015. And had started the ODI series against South Africa at 837 rating points but then moved up to 858 points after registering a score of 103 in the first match against SA. However, he again dropped down to 852 points by the time of the last weekly rankings update by scoring a low score of 32 runs in the second ODI match.
Babar overtake Kohli to become the number One Ranked ODI batsman in ICC Rankings!
By ending Kohli’s era of supremacy Babar became the number one ranked ODI batsman. In tests rankings Babar is currently ranked at sixth position while in T20I Rankings he is currently on the third spot. Pakistan’s star batsman Fakhar Zaman is another batsman to move up in the ODI rankings list. He gain five places to reach seventh spot in the ODI rankings after his stupendous 101 runs knock while left arm fast bowler Shaheen Afridi climbed four places up to his career best 11th position & left arm spinner Mohammed Nawaz climbed up to 29 places to reach 96th spot thanks to their three wicket haul in the match.
For South Africa all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo has gained 11 spots to reach 83rd position after scoring half century while Captain Temba Bavuma has progressed from 88th to 86th position in the ICC Men’s ODI Rankings!
