Indian Captain Virat Kohli & opening batsman Rohit Sharma remained firm at their respective fifth & sixth spot on the latest updated ICC Test Rankings. However, England’s captain Joe Root advanced two spots up to claim the second position in the ICC Test Rankings
Joe Root who started the tets series against England on the fifth spot & overtook Kohli after the first match against India has risen up by two slots to acquire the second position after the second test match. Joe Root who is a top-ranked batsman in test cricket is currently on 893 points just eight points less than captain Kane Williamson. KL Rahul who was termed as the player of the match in the second test is another batsman who gained in the recent Rankings list after guiding India to a 151 run win & a 1-0 lead in the five-match test series.
KL Rahul whose career-best ranking is the eighth position which he gained in November 2017 has advanced 19 slots to reach 37th position with a knock of 129 in the first innings. The bowlers who gained from India vs England Lord’s test include James Anderson, who has moved up by one spot & is on the sixth position in the ICC Test Rankings list after registering a five-wicket haul in the first innings. England’s pacer Mark Wood & India’s Mohammed Siraj has made significant gains to each 37th & 38th position on the ICC Test Rankings list.
Mark Wood has gained five slots by scalping five wickets in the Lord’s test while Siraj’s four wickets in each innings of the second test helped him to gain 18 points. The latest weekly update which considers the performances of WI vs PAK 2021 first test sees Babr Azam move up by two slots to reach the eighth position among the batters list after scoring 30 & 55 while Faheem Ashraf & Fawad Alam gained four slots each to reach 48th & 55th positions respectively.
For the West Indies team, Jermaine Blackwood has gained nine slots to reach the 35th position in the ICC Test Rankings batsmen list after scoring 22 & 55 runs respectively. Jason Holder moved up by five places to 43rd position & Captain Kraigg Brathwaite who missed the first innings century by just three runs moved up by 18 places to reach 45th position. Jason Holder has also advanced into the top 10 list for bowlers, hid four-wicket haul in the second test has lifted him by two places to ninth position. Fast bowler Jayden Seales has gained 39 places to reach 58th position after his eighth wicket haul that helped him to earn the player of the match award while Kemar Roach is another bowler who gained in the latest ICC Test Rankings list by advancing up two places to 11th position.
For Pakistan, pacer Shaheen Afridi has gained four slots to reach 18th position by scalping four wickets in each innings & Faheem advances up by four places to reach 71st position in the ICC Test Rankings list for bowlers.
