ICC WTC Final: Kane Williamson to make a comeback, says Playing XI will be decided later

New Zealand captain, Kane Williamson gave an update about his fitness ahead of the marquee ICC WTC Final. He said that he is absolutely fit to lead the Black Caps squad in the inaugural WTC Final. However, he didn’t reveal about the final Playing XI.

“Everybody is fit in the squad. My elbow has improved thanks to the injection a few days back. We haven’t finalized the squad yet, we will do that a little later,” Williamson told at the press conference. Williamson feels that though New Zealand has dethroned India on the ICC Test Team Rankings list, it will not play a key role in the results of the ICC WTC final. After winning the test series against England by 1-0, New Zealand grabbed the No.1 spot in the ICC Test Rankings.

“The rankings keep changing but we know the challenge is very, very strong against this Indian team,” he told the press. Williamson also expressed his excitement about playing a one-off test at a neutral venue.

When asked about his view on playing good cricket & get results, Williamson replied, ” I think both teams have their own style and brand of cricket that they are committed to… there is a chance we will get a good five days of cricket”, added Williamson

He further said “There are many areas of competition which needs to be considered. India has a world-class batting & a strong seam & spin bowling attack. Similarly, New Zealand also enjoys a world-class bowling & batting order. It is exciting to be involved in this WTC final” Williamson said

“Every team has their own challenges & we are not concentrating on that. We are just looking forward to getting involved. It has been a long time coming,” he signed off.
