WTC final Star Sports head Sanjog Gupta

Star Sports India Head Sanjog Gupta feels that the excitement of the World Test Championship final will be similar to that of the first ODI World Cup in 1975 & the first T20 World Cup in 2007.

India & New Zealand will come into a face-off in the finals of the WTC at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton starting on June 18. “The World Test Championship will truly be a defining moment in cricket. Similar to the 1st ODI World Cup in 1975 & the first T20 World Cup in 2007”, said Sanjog Gupta in a statement.

Star Sports which is India’s one of the leading Sports Broadcaster has created a promotional film ahead of the mega event. The film, voiced by renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle highlights the exciting journey of the Indian team in the lead up to this historical final where the Indian team will lock horns with a skillful & in-form New Zealand team. The Black Caps squad is equally eager to create history by becoming the first World Test Champion.

“Over the last 8 years, Star India has invested significant resources and effort to boost interest in Test cricket. We saw India versus England series earlier this year register record viewership, which strengthened our belief in the appeal amongst core fans for the oldest format of the game,” said Sanjog.

“So, it is appropriate that the first-ever ‘World Champion’ in Test cricket will also be crowned on the network. The promotional film for the WTC Final or “The Ultimate Test” captures the essence of Team India’s journey to the finals and the excitement around this momentous Test match amongst fans of the Indian team,” he added.

The WTC final will be an interesting competition of two contrasting leadership styles, i.e. passionate & enthusiastic Virat Kohli locking horns with calm & steady Kane Williamson. The contest between two different personalities will be truly enthralling for every cricket fan.

In the bowling department, it’s Trent Boult versus Jasprit Bumrah. The fight between spin & pace would surely be an ultimate battle of tactics. Pujara versus Jamieson; Pant versus Watling; Rohit versus Wagner. The list of battles is lon & the WTC final winner would be decided by these inter-squad captivating battles. Get ready to witness nerve-triggering action on-field during the WTC final between India & New Zealand.

WTC final will be live streamed on the Star Sports Network & Disney+ Hotstar VIP from June 18.
