IND vs. ENG, 1st Test Day 5, and Live Score Updates: 9th Wicket down for India, England Registers Glorious Victory!

Finally Jofra Archer nails it! He scalps last wicket of Jasprit Bumrah to bowl India all out for 192 runs. England comfortably wins the first test by 227 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium & lead the test series by 1-0 in the four match test series.

In reply to India’s target of 420 runs, India could only score 192 runs in the second innings in 58.1 overs. Virat Kohli was the top performer for India with a decent knock of 72 runs off 104 balls but all his efforts went in vain as England’s bowlers outclass India with a sharp bowling attack. India lost its star batsman Rohit Sharma very early before the end of match on Day 4 & also India had a poor start on final day of the test match. Cheteshwar Pujara lost his wicket to Jack Leach after scoring just 15 runs. Opener Shubman Gill could stitch a small partnership with Kohli but was dismissed after reaching his half-century. The rest of India’s batsmen like Rishabh Pant & Sundar were sent back to the pavilion very cheaply. Jack leach was among the pick of bowlers who helped visitors claim victory by scalping four wickets while Anderson was able to grab three crucial wickets of the hosts.  Jofra Archer, Dom Bess and Ben Stokes registered a wicket each in the second innings.

England & India are scheduled to face each other in the second test match which will begin from February 13 at the same venue. India will surely be aiming to register a victory & level up the scores with visitors.
