England’s pacer James Anderson surpassed the record of Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar to play the most test matches at home ground. Anderson achieved this feat during the ongoing IND vs ENG 4th test 2021 at the Oval Ground.
Anderson has played 95 tests in England while Tendulkar has played 94 matches in India. Former Australia Captain Ricky Pointing had played 92 tests on home soil while England’s Alastair Cook had played 89 tests in England. Even Steve Waugh had played 89 tests in Australia.
Coming back to the ongoing IND vs ENG 4th Test 2021, India lost the wickets of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul & Cheteshwar Pujara in quick succession as England’s pacer ensured that the hosts dominated the opening session of the ongoing fourth Test at the Oval Cricket Ground.
At Lunch, India’s score read 54/3 with Kohli (18*) & Ravindra Jadeja (2*) staying unbeaten at the crease. In the first session, 25 overs were bowled & England’s pacers ensured that they restrict Indian batsmen from scoring runs. Sent in to bat first the Indian openers Rohit Sharma & KL Rahul mixed caution with aggression to face the opening spells of James Anderson and Ollie Robinson. However, the introduction of Chris Woakes proved lethal for India as he dismissed Rohit Sharma for 11 ending the 28 run opening stand between KL Rahul & Rohit.
Cheteshwar Pujara joined KL Rahul but the duo found it difficult to score runs & they didn’t score even a single run for almost five overs. Soon Rahul got trapped in front of stumps by Ollie Robinson reducing India to 28/2. Pujara also failed to deliver with the bat as he was caught by James Anderson reducing India to 39/3 in the 20th over. In the end, Kohli and Jadeja ensured that India went into the lunch break without losing any further wicket. India’s score read 54/3 at lunch.
