India outclasses New Zealand by 372 runs to clinch the series with 1-0

IND vs NZ 2nd test: India’s bowling attack shone as the hosts scrambled New Zealand by 372 runs on day four of the second test to register an emphatic win over the black Caps & thereby clinched the series by 1-0 scores.

After bundling India to a meager 62 runs in the first innings, India crushed New Zealand for a poor 167 runs in the secodn innings to register a stunning win over the Balck Caps in Mumbai. India wrapped up the match quickly on day four of teh secodn test as the Black Caps lost five wickets for just 27 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin & Jayant Yadav scalped four wickets each in the second innings to hand the Balck Caps a massive 372 runs win. The 372 runs win was India’s biggest in tets format bettering the previous 337 runs against South Africa in 2015.

However, New Zealand showed great determination in the second test but couldn’t stop India from winning this crucial test series by dominating the secodn test. New Zealand though had major talking points in the secodn test as spinner Ajaz Patel became the third bowler in the history of Test cricket to pick all 10 wickets in an innings. He ended with match figures of 14/225 — the most wickets against India in a Test match. Ajaz’s 10 wickets haul proved to be just a consolation for New Zealand whose batting order scrumble to Indian spinners bowling attack. While the likes of Ashwin, Jayant Yadav, and Axar Patel were almost unplayable at times, the hero of the Test with the bat in hand for India was Mayank Agarwal.

Mayank Agarwal scored a scintillating 150 runs knock in the first innings followed by a quickfire 62 in the second innings. With the likes of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma absent from the series, this was a big statement from Mayank Agarwal with South Africa tour around the corner. However, a major question mark remains over the future of Ajinkya Rahane with the Indian team. With young players such as Shreyas Iyer who scored a ton on his test debut creating a mark in test format, time could be running out for Ajinkya Rahane.
