Sri Lanka has been fined 20% of their match fees for maintaining a slow over-rate against India in the second ODI in Colombo on Tuesday. Earlier Deepak Chahar produced a stupendous knock of unbeaten 62 runs to help India register a gutsy win over Sri Lanka in the second ODI. Post victory, Deepak Chahar revealed that watching MS Dhoni finish matches helped him to plan his innings in Colombo on Tuesday.
Chahar smashed a gutsy fifty & then continued his firing with the bat by stitching an 84 runs stand with Bhuvneshwar Kumar 19* to take India home after India was reduced to 193/7 in the second ODI. India was almost out in their run chase but thanks to Deepak Chahar who made sure that Indian players walk out of the stadium by clinching a memorable win in the second ODI. The final over was not less than a roller coaster ride for both the teams & India fans. Visitors required 16 runs to win in the last three overs & the Chahar-Bhuvneshwar duo ensured that India doesn’t lose any wickets thereby taking India home with five balls to spare. With this remarkable victory, India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Indian team captain Virat Kohli & head coach Ravi Shastri had sent congratulatory messages to Chahar for playing a crucial knock & guiding team India to a series-clinching win in the second ODI.
