India to face Arch-Rivals Pakistan on October 24 in the T20 World Cup


The much-awaited clash between India & Pakistan in the T20 World Cup will take place on October 24 in Dubai. Speaking to ANI sources in the know of developments confirmed the dates, “Yes the arch-rivals will clash on October 24”.

Last month the ICC had announced the groups for the men’s T20 World Cup to be hosted by the BCCI in Oman & UAE from October 17 to November 14. India & Pakistan have been placed in Group 2 of the Super 12s. The two teams will clash in the group stages of the T20 World Cup.

The groups selected on the basis of team rankings as of March 20, 2021, have West Indies along with England, Australia & South Africa in Group 1 of the Super 12s, with two qualifiers from Round 1 joining them. Group 2 will comprise India, Pakistan, New Zealand & Afghanistan with the other two qualifiers joining them from Round 1.

Eight teams will contest the first round of the World Cup including automatic qualifiers Sri Lanka & Bangladesh with the remaining six teams who grabbed their spot through the ICC Men’s World Cup Qualifier 2019.

Ireland, Netherlands & Namibia to join Group A with Sri Lanka Oman, PNG & Scotland will face Bangladesh in group B. With a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases in India, the T20 World Cup 2021 will now be hosted in the UAE & Oman.

The T20 World Cup 2021 was scheduled to be held in India. However, due to the rapid surge in COVID-19 cases in India & the fear of the third wave of COVID-19, the BCCI decided to host the mega event in the UAE. The T20 World Cup 2021 will be hosted in UAE & Oman. Earlier ICC had clarified that the BCCI would continue to have the hosting rights of the T20 World Cup 2021 even if it is staged out of India.
