Ravindra Jadeja suffered a hamstring injury during his batting and so he couldn’t bowl for India. As a result Yuzvendra Chahal came as India’s concussion substitute & picked up two important wickets of Aaron Finch & Steve Smith.
After Chahal, T Natarajan gave another major breakthrough to India by removing in-form batsman Glenn Maxwell & gave India a chance to defend the total of 162 runs. India took a brilliant review that saw Glenn Maxwell get perish to T Natarajan LBW. Three wickets are down for Australia. Chahal dismissed Finch on 35 runs & after some time struck again to remove Steve Smith. Finch & D Arcy Short looked in brilliant form as Australia began their chase of 162 runs.
India finished their innings on 161/7 with the help of half century from KL Rahul & a cameo by Jadeja who remains unbeaten on 44 off 23 balls. Jadeja scored 23 runs off the 19th over by Josh Hazlewood. Hardik Pandya fell in the hands of Henriques & could score just 16 runs. Australia gave a major blow to India with the fall of KL Rahul’s wicket. Before KL Rahul, Sanju Samson & Manish Pandey were removed in quick succession to counter India’s progress. Mitchell Swepson completed a return catch to dismiss Kohli. Earlier Shikhar Dhawan was cleaned up by Mitchell Starc to give Australia an early breakthrough. Jasprit Bumrah is not included in the Indian team’s bowling line-up for today’s game whereas two new addition have been made by including Manish Pandey and Sanju Samson in India’s playing XI squad.
