For India, Debutant Navdeep Saini dismissed hosts Opener batsman Will Pucovski to scalp his maiden test wicket for India but Saini could achieve this feat only after Pucovski scored a brilliant half-century in his debut test match. India had a couple of chances to dismiss Pucovski early but Rishabh Pant missed those chances by dropping Pucovski catches twice in two overs. He & Labuschagne together stitched a 100 run partnership.

Earlier India got their first breakthrough with Mohammed Siraj dismissing Opener David Warner for just 5 runs & the hosts were reduced to 21 for 1 at lunch break. Sudden drizzle at the Sydney Cricket Ground forced the players to go off the field in 8th over of the third test. Australia had won toss & opted to bat first in the third test match against India. Visitors welcomed their favorite player Rohit Sharma in their test squad whereas Young Navdeep Saini made his debut in place of Mohammed Shami. Australia on the other hand have David Warner & Will Pucovski as opening pair with both regaining fitness and playing.
