England outclassed India & win the first T20I match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The day belonged to the visitors as Dawid Malan sealed the victory by hitting a huge six. England chase the by scoring 130 runs for two wickets in 15.3 overs.
The visitors put a good start to the chase with Jason Roy nearing a century. He scored 49 runs off 32 balls comprising of four fours & three sixes. Jos Butler did the rest of the job for England by adding 28 runs to their scoreboard. Malan’s 24 & Jonny Bairstow 26 remained unbeaten for England helping their side past the winning target. It was a bad day for India as Yuzvendra Chahal & Washington Sundar were the only bowlers who could scalp a wicket each for India. India could score just 124 runs for seven wickets down in 20 overs by losing wickets at regular intervals. Shreyas Iyer registered half century by scoring 67 runs off 48 balls. England bowler’s restricted bowling prevented India to score big. Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Chris Jordan & Ben Stokes took a single wicket each while pacer Jofra Archer registered three wickets to reduce India to 124 runs with 7 wickets down. England have taken a 1-0 lead in the ongoing T20I series & both the teams will now face each other in the next T20I match on 14th of March.
