India put up a mammoth total of 336/6 from 50 overs against England in the 2nd ODI at the MCA Stadium in Pune. KL Rahul starred with the bat as he brings up his fifth ODI Century while Virat Kohli & Rishabh Pant registered flawless half-centuries.
KL Rahul & Virat Kohli steadied India’s Innings by stitching a strong partnership of 121 runs for the third wicket down. Then came Rishabh Pant on the field! Rishabh Pant along with KL Rahul peeled off another century stand for the fourth wicket down. Rishabh Pant’s swashbuckling 77 runs off 40 balls helped India to stay alive in the final overs. But Pant & Rahul’s partnership couldn’t last long as KL Rahul fell prey to Tom Curran’s bowling & got dismissed for 108 runs. Soon after Rahul’s dismissal, Tom Curran removed Rishabh Pant for 77 runs. Hardik Pandya’s quick-fire 35 runs off 16 balls ensured that India crosses the 300 runs mark. India finished its innings on 336/6 from 50 overs. For England, the pick of the bowlers was Reece Topley & Sam Curran who scalped two wickets each.
Earlier England won the toss & sent India to bat first. India had a poor start as Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed cheaply in the fourth over. Pacer Reece Topley removed Dhawan & provided Visitors with an early breakthrough. Captain Kohli was joined by Rohit Sharma & the duo added 28 runs to India’s scoreboard before Sam Curran sent Rohit Sharma back to the pavilion for 25 runs in the ninth over. KL Rahul then came to bat at No.4. KL Rahul & Virat Kohli laid the foundation for India’s Mammoth total of 336 runs.
