Virat Kohli smashed a winning six to register a glorious victory for India against England in the second T20I of the five match T20I series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
In response to England’s target of 165 runs, Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten knock of 73 runs in just 49 balls to help India reach 166 runs for three wickets in 17.5 overs. The hosts had a poor start to their run chase as they lost opener KL Rahul on 0 for a duck. But after the arrival of Kohli & Ishan Kishan India started gaining momentum as debutant Ishan Kishan & Kohli stitched a strong partnership to bring England in trouble. Ishan kishan registered a half century i.e. 56 runs off 32 balls before getting dismissed. Rishabh Pant also made a noteworthy contribution in India’s Chase by scoring 26 runs. Then came Shreyas Iyer who remained unbeaten along with kohli & the duo guided India to a crucial win.
England’s bowlers couldn’t restrict India from scoring & chasing target in the second T20I with Sam Curran, Chris Jordan and Adil Rashid registering a wicket each. The visitors could score 164 runs for six wickets down in 20 overs with Jason Roy missing his half-century for the second time. For India’s bowling department, Washington Sundar & Shardul Thakur were among the pick of bowlers who scalped two wickets each. Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar Kumar & Yuzvendra Chahal picked up one wicket each. The victory has helped India level the T20I series with 1-1 score & both the teams would now face each other in the third ODI which is scheduled for March 16.
