The Indian Women’s team has received the first dose of COVID-19 Vaccine as the team gears up for the upcoming tour of England. The Women’s team is currently undergoing quarantine in Mumbai & the players who were left to get the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, have received their first shot on Thursday.
“The entire Indian Women’s team has completed their first dose of COVID-19 vaccination. Few players who were left to get the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine received it on Thursday. All the players of the Indian Women’s team have been given Covishield vaccine as they will get the second dose of vaccine in England”, the source close to BCCI said to ANI.
Earlier on Wednesday, the BCCI has posted a video in which the Indian Women’s team can be seen doing rigorous workouts in the gym ahead of their UK tour to ensure that they are ready for the high-voltage multi-format series against England. The BCCI captioned the video as, “Shut the Noise! We are INDIA”.
The Indian Women’s team will come into a face-off with England Women’s in a one-match test, three ODIs & three T20Is. Both the teams will first come into a face-off in a four-day test match starting from June 16, followed by a three-match ODI series starting from June 27 with the matches scheduled to be played at Bristol, Taunton & Worcester
Both the teams will then come into a face-off in a three-match T20I series starting from July 9 & the three matches will be played at Northampton, Hove & Chelmsford. The third T20I which was initially scheduled for July 15, will now be played one day before on July 14 in Chelmsford due to broadcasting issues.
ECB has confirmed the news of the date change of the third T20I by tweeting about it on Tuesday. “Date Change. For broadcast purposes, the third Vitality IT20I between England Women & India Women at The Cloudfm County Ground will now be played on 14th July, Wednesday”, tweeted ECB.
