KKR vs SRH: Riding on the back of openers Nitish Rana’s scintillating 80 & Rahul Tripathi’s brilliant 53, KKR has scripted a brilliant 10 runs win against SRH in the 4th Match of the IPL at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday.
Early Fall of Openers Wickets left SRH reeling right at the beginning of their Innings!
For SRH, Rashid Khan was as usual in his best form by scalping 2 wickets & conceding just 24 runs. But his other bowling colleagues proved less effective on a slow wicket. SRH lost their Captain David Warner for just 3 runs & Wriddhiman Saha for 7 runs. As a result, they were struggling to stay in the game right from the beginning of their innings despite Jonny Bairstow’s swashbuckling half-century. After displaying a poor stint with the ball, the SRH squad couldn’t stand strong with the bat as well. As a result, the SRH squad got collapsed on 177 runs for five in the chase of 188 runs. Warner was caught early for 3 runs off Prasidh Krishna’s delivery. Whereas Wriddiman Saha got dismissed on 7 runs by all-rounder Shakib-Al-Hasan.
Bairstow-Pandey’s 92 runs Stand brought SRH back on track in the game!
However, Jonny Bairstow & Manish Pandey together steadied SRH’s innings by stitching a 92 runs partnership at a steady run rate. Jonny Bairstow starred with the bat by scoring quick-fire 55 runs. However, Australian Star pacer Pat Cummins broke Bairstow-Pandey’s 92 runs stand when he had Bairstow caught at backward point by Rana. SRH needed 70 runs off the last five overs. The young batsman Abdul Samad from Jammu & Kashmir hit two sixes & a boundary off Cummins delivery in the penultimate over to keep SRH alive in the chase. With 22 runs required off 6 balls, Andre Russell did his best to restrict SRH from scoring, as a result, SRH went short off 10 runs & handed over Victory to KKR.
Nitish Rana shines as KKR registers a Competitive total of 187 runs!
For KKR, Nitish Rana starred with the bat. His off-side strokes, drives & cuts were of supreme quality & a treat to watch. Neither Bhuvneshwar nor Natarajan’s spin attack could stop Rana from scoring boundaries. Sandeep Sharma was smashed by three boundaries in a row by Rana. Whereas massive maximums from Gill’s bat added more runs to KKR’s scoreboard.
However, the flow of runs got restricted whenever Rashid Khan bowled over for SRH. He also provided SRH with a major breakthrough by getting Gill with a wrong’un to find the stumps. However, neither Rashid spins nor Natarajan’s Yorkers could stop Rana from hitting huge sixes. Rana continued to hit sixes even after registering a fast track half-century. His partner Rahul Tripathi was also in good form by striking & stroking confidently on the other end. He hit a huge six off Bhuvneshwar’s delivery followed by a cheek boundary.
Dinesh Karthik & Shakib-al-Hasan gives the finishing touch to KKR’s Decent Total!
Tripathi scored his half-century with another four off Bhuvneshwar’s delivery but was soon caught by T Natarajan when he top-edged the ball. Rashid Khan also sent Andre Russell back to the pavilion for 5 runs. Mohammed Nabi (2/32) got rid of Rana and Eoin Morgan (2) off successive balls in the 18th over. As SRH’s bowlers restricted KKR batters in the death overs. In the final two overs, Dinesh Karthik with 22 & Shakib-Al-Hasan with 3 managed to add few crucial runs to KKR’s total which went beyond the 185 runs mark. Thus KKR registered victory in style in the KKR vs SRH clash of the IPL 2021.
