Virat Kohli will open in batting for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 14th edition of the IPL. Kohli announced his decision to open in batting in the IPL 2021 during the recently concluded T20I series against England.
In the last T20I against England, Virat Kohli opened in batting along with Rohit Sharma & did wonders for Indian Team. Kohli registers 80 runs in 52 balls in the last T20I against England. In the video posted on RCB Twitter handle, Kohli spoke about his decision to become an opener.
Virat Kohli said, “I had spoken to Mike & Simon last year. That I would like to open in batting in the IPL 2021. And I would go into that headspace. However, things happened in a way that I got a chance to open in the last match against England and I ended up scoring well. This gave me the confidence to step into this role so I can probably do the same again”.
“That experience was very important for me heading into this IPL. Knowing that I am sorted with my game at the top of the order & then now let’s create that balance in the team. My batting & those things are taken care of”, Kohli added further.
RCB Captain Virat Kohli will open in batting in their first match of the IPL 2021. RCB will face MI today in the season’s opener match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
