Delhi Capitals Captain Shreyas Iyer will miss IPL 2021 due to a shoulder injury. Iyer suffered a dislocation of the left shoulder while fielding in the first ODI match against England. On Wednesday Iyer was ruled out of the remaining ODIs & on Thursday it was confirmed that he will also miss the entire season of the IPL 2021.
Delhi Capitals Chairman Parth Jindal tweeted that he is “absolutely devastated” for Shreyas Iyer & wished the DC Captain a speedy recovery.
“Absolutely devastated and gutted for our skipper @ShreyasIyer15 – stay strong captain – hope for a very quick recovery,” Jindal wrote in his tweet. “Have full faith that you will come back even stronger from this. India needs you in the T20 World Cup”, Jindal added.
Shreyas injury is a major blow for Delhi capitals as they lost their Captain who led them to the Maiden IPL Final in last year’s IPL. Shreyas was in a good form during the T20I series between India & England. Iyer was the one who scored a half-century & played a stupendous knock of 37 runs off 18 balls.
IPL 2021 kickstarts on April 9 with Mumbai Indians facing RCB in the first match of the IPL 2021 in Chennai. Delhi Capitals will start their campaign against CSK on April 10th.
