The BCCI on Friday announced an 18 member squad for the upcoming ODI series against England. And the good news is that Suryakumar Yadav, Krunal Pandya & Prasidh Krishna earned their maiden call to the Indian ODI team.
India will next face England in a three match ODI series starting from March 23 with all the matches to be played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. India had won the Test series comfortably despite of losing the Opening test match in Chennai. The five match T20I series is levelled at 2-2 after India beat England by eight runs in the 4th T20I on Thursday.
Suryakumar Yadav made the headlines for scoring swashbuckling half century right in his debut T20I match. Suryakumar’s scintillating 57 runs off 31 balls was crucial for India in posting a winning total of 185 runs for eight wickets down in 20 overs.
Suryakumar’s dismissal raised controversy as the ball appeared to have touch the ground when Dawid Malan took the catch in the deep. The third umpire, though said there was not much enough evidence to overturn on-field umpire’s soft signal of ‘out’. The fifth & final T20I will be palyed on Saturday.
Krunal Pandya who has appeared in 18 T20Is, received a maiden call up to the India ODI squad. The all-rounder was in fine form for Baroda in the recently ended Vijay Hazare Trophy. Krunal Pandya scored two centuries with a couple of half centuries for Baroda. Prasidh Krishna who is a medium pacer was also in fine form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy while representing Karnataka. He scalped 14 wickets in seven matches for Karnataka.
Jasprit Bumrah who has recently married to TV Presenter Sanjana Ganesan had missed the T20I series & has not been included in the ODI Squad as he has been granted leave from the BCCI.
