When Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Kohli in Mumbai Indians Clash against RCB on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi he reached the milestone of 100th IPL wickets.
Incidentally when Bumrah made his IPL debut in 2013 the first wicket which he picked was also of Kohli. Mumbai Indians posted a picture from that clash in 2013 showing a young Bumrah celebrating Kohli’s wicket along with similar excitement though less exuberant, celebratory pic from Wednesday’s clash. The “How it started – How it’s going” caption captured Bumrah’s emphatic IPL journey. Bumrah’s short ball got a big wicket of Kohli in yetserday’s clash as the RCB captain top-edged the ball to Saurabh Tiwary at short mid-wicket. Virat was sent back to the pavilion for nine runs as RCB lost four wickets for seven runs in the middle overs with Bumrah accounting two wickets.
The fast bowler finished with figures of 3 for 14 scored from four overs as RCB were restricted to just 164 runs after their opener batsman added 71 runs in 7.5 overs. Bumrah, now has 102 IPL wickets fetched from 89 matches. He is a four time IPL winner with Mumbai Indians team who has won the IPL Title in 2013, 2015, 2017 & 2019 respectively. Bumrah is Mumbai Indians franchise’s highest wicket taker this IPL season who fetched 20 wickets from 12 games & second in the race of Purple Cap behind Kasigo Rabada.
Kohli on the other hand is the IPL’s all-time leading run scorer who scored 5836 runs from 189 matches. He is also RCB’s top scorer this IPL season with 424 runs scored from 12 matches.
