Yesterday KKR registered an unexpected 10 runs victory against CSK to go on third spot in the IPL 2020 points table as their rivals stays at fifth spot.
Rahul Tripathi was given the opportunity to bat in the top order & open up KKR’s innings kept the faith of team’s management by scoring 81 runs off 51 balls in a match where their next best individual scores were 17 runs by Sunil Narine & pat Cummins. KKR came in immense pressure when Shane Watson hit his second consecutive half century but with a strategic restricted bowling they were successful in grabbing some crucial wickets & limiting Dhoni led side to 157/5. KKR have six points from five matches played & moved above RCB with a better net run rate.
CSK now have four points scored from six matches & May further slide down on the points table if they continue to lose future matches. FAF du Plessis who has scored three half centuries in this year’s IPL season managed to score only 17 runs in yesterday’s match in Abu Dhabi & fell just three runs short to surpass this season’s leading run scorer KL Rahul.
KL Rahul has registered 302 runs on his name & held Orange Cap for most part of this season with fellow opener batsman Mayank Agarwal taking the cap from KL Rahul for a short duration in the middle of the season. FAF Du Plessis opener batsman Shane Watson moved to the fifth position in the run scorers list with his 40 balls 50 runs scored. Sam Curran picked two wickets for CSK & reached a seven wickets mark for this season but he is still far from troubling the leading wicket takers. Rabada holds the Purple Cap with 12 wickets & Mumbai Indians star bowler Bumrah & Trent Boult are behind him with 11 & 10 runs respectively.
