KKR received another major blow! As the franchise star pacer, Prasidh Krishna has tested positive for COVID-19. The count of KKR players testing positive for COVID-19 has now increased to four. Krishna is the fourth player from the KKR franchise after Varun Chakravarthy, Sandeep Warrier & Tim Seifert to test positive for COVID-19.
Speaking to the media, the sources confirmed the news of Prasidh Krishna testing positive for COVID-19. “He is down with COVID-19. The results have come in & he has tested positive for COVID-19”, the source said. Prasidh’s positive report came as a major blow for the pacer as he is selected by the BCCI as a standby player for the ICC World Test Championship final as well as the five-match Test series against England on Friday.
Earlier today, KKR’s one more player Tim Seifert of the New Zealand squad has also tested positive for COVID-19. Speaking on the development the NZC Chief Executive David White said, “It’s really unfortunate for Tim and we’ll do everything for him that we can from this end, and hopefully he will be able to test negative and be cleared and approved for discharge as soon as he’s well again,” said New Zealand Chief David White in his Official Statement.
“Since receiving the news, we’ve organized support for Tim and have also – via the players association, been in contact with his family to ensure they’re kept fully informed and updated on developments,” white added in his Statement.
The array of COVID-19 cases in the IPL bio-bubble started on Monday with two KKR players Varun Chakravarthy & Sandeep Warrier had tested positive for COVID-19. Then on Tuesday DC’s Amit Mishra, SRH’s Wriddhiman Saha & two support staff of the CSK contingent had tested positive for COVID-19. The surging cases of COVID-19 inside the bio-bubbles forced the BCCI to immediately suspend the IPL 2021 indefinitely on Tuesday.
