Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals in the final of the IPL 2020 & registered their fifth title win. After historic finals, KL Rahul has been awarded with the Orange Cap for scoring highest runs in the IPL 2020 whereas Rabada was awarded with a Purple Cap for fetching maximum wickets throughout the tournament.
KL Rahul finished with 670 runs scored form 14 matches 55.83 and a strike rate of 129.34 with a stint which comprised of one century & five half centuries. Whereas Rabada the Purple Cap holder fetched 30 wickets from 17 matches at an economy rate of 8.34 runs per over with two four-wicket hauls. KL Rahul led the run scorer’s charts even though he played only 14 matches as KXIP could not make to the playoffs.
Shikhar Dhawan finished second on the run scorers list by scoring 618 runs & had an opportunity to surpass KL Rahul and win Orange Cap however Jayant Yadav dismissed Dhawan at an early 15 runs in the finals. Rabada also gave a chance to Bumrah to surpass him in the race of Purple Cap as Bumrah successfully surpassed Rabada in Qualifier 1 however Rabada regained his no.1 spot after Qualifier 2 which he maintained in the finals as Bumrah went wicket less in the finals & finished second with 27 wickets fetched from 15 matches. Trent Boult was third in the Purple Cap race by fetching 25 wickets form 15 matches.
RCB’s Devdutt Padikkal won the emerging players award for scoring 473 runs from 15 games in his debut IPL season. He hit five fifties and hit the ball at a strike rate of 124.80. Rajasthan Royals Jofra Archer was awarded as the “Most Valuable Player” for his 20 wickets, 175 dot balls, 5 catches and 10 sixes.
