Krunal Pandya returns to India after recovering from COVID-19 in Sri Lanka

All-rounder Krunal Pandya has returned to India after testing negative for COVID-19. He was tested positive for COVID-19 on India’s limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka. Krunal was kept in isolation & thus had missed the second & third T20Is against Sri Lanka.

After completing his mandatory isolation period & returning with negative results in two RT-PCR tests, he got cleared to return back to India. The rest of India’s touring contingent except Krunal Panyda’s eight close contacts have already returned back to India after the conclusion of the India vs Sri Lanka T20I series on July 30. Hardik Pandya, Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav, Manish Pandey, Deepak Chahar, Krishnappa Gowtham, Ishan Kishan, and Yuzvendra Chahal were revealed to be in close touch with Krunal Pandya before he tested positive.

Prithvi Shaw & Suryakumar Yadav were allowed to leave for England after the duo tested negative for COVID-19 in Colombo. The video of Krunal Pandya leaving the Mumbai airport was shared by a media company. By sharing Krunal’s video Viral Bhayani wrote, “Back home after his quarantine is done #krunalpandya today at Mumbai Airport,” he wrote on Instagram.

Yuzvendra Chahal & Krishnappa Gowtham who also tested positive for COVID-19 are the only two players of the Indian team left in Sri Lanka. They will undergo two RT-PCR tests on Thursday & if they return with negative results then the duo will be allowed to return back to India.

Krunal Pandya had tested positive for COVID-19 on July 27. Following the development, Krunal Pandya along with eight close contacts was put in isolation & India had to field reserve players in the second & third T20I against Sri Lanka. The newbies failed to perform in front of the experienced Sri Lankan squad & thus suffered a defeat in the T20I series by 2-1 scores.

Krunal Pandya will next be seen in action for the Mumbai Indians franchise in the second phase of the IPL 2021 starting from September 19 in the UAE.
