Sanju Samson scored 54 runs while Shimron Hetmyer & Jos Buttler amassed 27 & 22 runs to help RR register a respectable 152 runs on board. For KKR, Trent Boult starred with the ball by scalping two wickets. Umesh Yadav, Ankul Roy & Shivam Mavi too returned with one scalp each.
In pursuit of the total, KKR had a shaky start as their openers failed to convert good starts to big scores. However, Shreyas Iyer then came on board & smashed 34 off 32 balls to steady KKR’s submerging innings. Later Nitish Rana (48 runs off 23 balls ) & Rinku Singh (unbeaten 42 off 23 balls) took the matter into their hands & guided KKR over the line in the penultimate over.
With four wins in nine matches they have played, KKR are lagging at the bottom of the Points table. After defeating RR in their previous clash they are back to winning terms. Batting first, LSG managed to score 195 runs in the first innings, thanks to magnificent knocks by KL Rahul & Deepak Hooda. The duo stitched a 95-run stand for the second wicket to lay the foundation of their glorious win. Rahul smashed 77 off 51 balls while Deepak smashed 52 off 34 balls. Marcus Stoinis (17) & Hardik Pandya (9) too chipped in with crucial runs to guide LSG to a competitive total.
In reply, Delhi Capitals made a horrific start with both their openers Prithvi Shaw (5) and David Warner (3) getting dismissed in the first three overs. Mitchell Marsh’s 37-ball 20 along with Rishabh Pant’s 44 runs of 30 & Rovman Powell’s 35 runs off 21 provided some momentum to DC’s innings. However, in end, Axar Patel smashed 42 off 24 balls but all went in vain as DC fell short of the target by six runs.
LSG would be brimming in confidence as they are placed second at the points table & are just two wins away from qualifying for the playoffs. KL Rahul & CO would aim to continue their winning spree & move closer to playoffs.
