‘Majid Haq’ is tested positive for Coronavirus!

37-year old, former Scotland offspinner Majid Haq is tested positive for deadly coronavirus. On Friday the bowler took to Twitter and announced that he is suffering from novel COVID-19 and is recovering steadily at Royal Alexandra Hospital in the Paisley area of Glasgow.

Haq tweeted, “Looking forward to getting back home today after testing positive with coronavirus and steadily recovering from it”. Further talking about the medical facilities he tweeted, “Staff at the Royal Alexandra Paisley have been good to me and thank you, everyone, who has sent me messages of good wishes and supported me”. InshaAllah the Panther will be back to full health soon #COVID19UK”.

According to the reports on the UK Government’s NHS Website for Coronavirus information, there were 266 confirmed coronavirus cases in Scotland till 19th March as a part od 3,269 confirmed coronavirus cases across the whole of the United Kingdom.

Talking about Haq’s career, Majid Haq has played 54 ODI’s and 21 T20’s for Scotland. He played last in the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. He was Scotland’s star leading wicket taker in ODI cricket who bagged 60 wickets till he has been surpassed in 2019 by fast bowler Safyaan Sharif.

However, Majid Haq is still active in domestic cricket in Scotland where most recent he was the captain of Royal High Corstorphine CC team who was playing in the Cricket Scotland League Eastern Premiership for 2019 summer session.

While talking about cricket tournaments both cricket Scotland and the ECB announced this week that recreational cricket match will be suspended due to the outbreak of novel Coronavirus. Many cricketers from around the globe have been kept under self-isolation since the Coronavirus was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
