Andre Russell’s five wickets haul restricts Mumbai Indians at 152 runs!
Suryakumar Yadav has laid a base for Mumbai Indians to post a Mammoth total but Andre Russell’s five-wicket haul shook Mumbai Indians batting order & Mumbai Indians could manage to put up an average total of 152 runs against KKR in the ongoing match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Mumbai Indians got off to a good start but the regular fall of wickets in the middle overs restricted their progress & the team collapsed from 115/3 to 126/7 within two overs. Russell who scalped three wickets in the final over stopped Mumbai Indians from registering a big total. KKR’s spearhead Pat Cummins scalped the crucial wicket of Rohit Sharma when the batsman got settled on the field & was ready to smash KKR’s bowlers.
Suryakumar Yadav’s 50 steadied Mumbai Indians Innings!
Sent to bat first, Mumbai Indians suffered an early blow as they lost their star batsmen Quinton de Kock right in the second over. Varun Chakravarthy caught De Kock on the last ball of his first over. Captain Rohit & Suryakumar Yadav then steadied Mumbai Indians submerging ship. Rohit Sharma played a cautious knock to settle on the crease. Whereas Suryakumar hit boundaries as the batter registered his half-century with a six. However, Suryakumar right after registering his half-century got dismissed in an attempt of whacking the ball.
Ishan Kishan lasted for few minutes before handing the ball straight away to Prasidh Krishna. By dismissing Ishan Kishan Cummins marked his first wicket of the day in the 12th over. The early fall of wickets regulated the Mumbai Indians progress in the match. As Mumbai Indians could score just 13 runs in three overs. Rohit guided Mumbai Indians to 100 runs mark by hitting a huge six. However, after hitting a six he soon got dismissed in the 16th over.
Cummins took the prized wicket of Rohit to reduce MI to 126/7 in the 18th Over!
Pat Cummins struck again as Rohit hit a slow delivery straight on the stumps. And just after the dismissal of Rohit on the very next over Hardik was sent back to the Pavilion. In the death overs, Mumbai Indians failed to execute runs & kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Russell dismissed Kieron Pollard & Marco Jansen in the 18th over as Mumbai Indians were reduced to 126/7.
Krunal Pandya also tried to hit some good shots towards the end of the innings but failed to deliver much in the last over. As a result, Mumbai Indians total could reach 150 runs mark.
