Chahar & Boult’s perfect bowling attack changed the game in Mumbai Indians favour!
Yesterday’s MI vs. KKR clash was not less than a roller coaster ride for the fans! The match took unexpected twist & turns in the death overs which handed victory to MI over KKR. Earlier Mumbai Indians could register a below-average score of 152 runs over KKR’s restricted bowling attack & the game looked clearly in the hands of KKR. However, the momentum of the game changed in the death overs when Mumbai Indians bowler Rahul Chahar spun a web while Trent Boult executed perfect Yorkers to snatch victory for Mumbai Indians from the hands of defeat against the KKR at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday.
Earlier, Andre Russell’s spectacular five wickets haul had wrapped Mumbai Indians on 152 runs. In response, KKR were restricted to 142/7 thanks to a brilliant bowling performance from Mumbai Indians bowlers. KKR were looking forward to registering an easy win. But Chahar spun a vicious web & removed KKR’s top four batsmen to destruct their strong batting order. Then Jasprit Bumrah & Trent Boult’s perfect Yorkers took the match in Mumbai Indians favour.

Chasing a target of 153, KKR got off to a good start as Nitish Rana & Shubman Gill stitched a 72 runs stand for the first wicket. The duo smashed 45 runs in the first six overs to keep the match in KKR’s hands. However, then came Chahar who provided Mumbai Indians with the first breakthrough by removing Shubman Gill in the ninth over. A few minutes later Chahar picked his second wicket as he dismissed Rahul Tripathi for five runs in the 11th over to reduce KKR to 84/2. Eoin Morgan & Nitish stitched a partnership of 20 runs. However, Chahar wreaked havoc by dismissing Eoin Morgan right in the 13th over.
By scalping the prized wicket of Nitish Rahan, Chahar removed KKR’s top order to turn the match in KKR’s favour. In the 16th over Krunal Pandya dismissed Shakib-Al-Hasan as KKR lost half of their team with 31 runs still needed in 28 balls. Andre Russell & Dinesh Karthik then played cautiously to avoid any loss of wickets. But still, KKR’s batsmen couldn’t chase the average total of 152 runs.
In 1st Innings, Mumbai Indians could jolt a below-average total of 150 Runs!
Being sent to bat first, Mumbai Indians suffered an early blow as they lost their star batsmen Quinton de Kock right in the second over. Varun Chakravarthy caught De Kock on the last ball of his first over. Captain Rohit & Suryakumar Yadav then steadied Mumbai Indians submerging ship. Rohit Sharma played a cautious knock to settle on the crease. Whereas Suryakumar hit boundaries as he registered his first half-century with a six. However, Suryakumar right after registering his half-century got dismissed in an attempt of hitting a six.
In the death overs, Mumbai Indians failed to execute runs & kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Russell dismissed Kieron Pollard & Marco Jansen in the 18th over as Mumbai Indians were reduced to 126/7. Krunal Pandya also tried to hit some good shots towards the end of the innings but he flattered in order to whack every ball in the final over as Mumbai Indians could reach 150 runs mark.
