Mohammad Kaif shares a throwback Video of his Incredible Running Catch against Pakistan!

Mohammad Kaif recollected his remarkable catch against Pakistan in a memorable match in 2004. Kaif has taken some out of the world catches in his career & will be regarded as one of the best fielders of team India.

In Kaif’s collection of catches his one effort which is always a standout was his incredible running catch against Pakistan in Karachi during the 2004 ODI series. It was a memorable catch not because of Kaif’s enthusiasm but also for the impact the catch had on the game. On Saturday the former Indian Cricketer recollected his efforts on the field, sharing the video on Twitter he wrote, “Fearlessness of youth makes you chase the impossible and grab it with both hands.”

In the first ODI of the five match series during India’s tour of Pakistan in 2004, Pakistan won the toss & chosen to bowl. Pakistani bowlers were blown by the monster batting performance from India. Sehwag scored 79 runs off 57 balls & gave India an outstanding start.

Rahul Dravid scored 99 off 104 balls while Sourav Ganguly (45) and Mohammad Kaif (46) also made key contributions as India powered their way to a mammoth 349 for seven wickets. Pakistan scored 34 runs for two wickets in the 8th over. However Inzamam-Ul-Haq scored 122 & Mohammad Yusuf together brought their team to a brilliant 135 runs. When Pakistan needed just 10 runs in 8 balls to win, Kaif came up with his outstanding fielding performance.

Shoaib Malik hit a massive six & Kaif ran from long distance at full speed & stretched his full length & grasped the balls with both the hands. Almost taking teammate Hemang Badani’s head off in the process — to give India hope.

India grabbed the important wicket of Malik & it proved as the game changer that brought Pakistan under pressure. And the result was Pakistan unable to score the required 9 runs & lost in the final over.
