England’s all-rounder Ben Stokes on Thursday said that he is very happy & satisfied with the T20I batting line-up & has no plans to promote himself up in the top order.
Ben Stokes played at No.3 spot in the first ODI while in the 2020 IPL he opened the innings for his franchise Rajasthan Royals. “I don’t think to promote myself up in the batting line-up. In the T20I batting line-up, everyone deserves to be where they deserved to play. We have been outstanding in the limited-overs format & so why would we change that? Everyone in the batting line deserves to be where they are currently at battling line-up. Just because we lost the T20I series doesn’t mean that we would start changing things. I am happy with everything in our white-ball cricket team because that’s our best format to win & we excel in white format cricket”, Ben Stokes said in a press conference.
When Ben Stokes was asked about his favourite format of Cricket he said, “Playing a Test match for England is what I feel good about”. When asked about Jofra Archer’s decision to head back home for his elbow injury treatment, Stokes said that he feels that Archer has taken the right decision to go back home & give undergo proper treatment for his elbow injury, rather than playing in the ODI series & in the IPL 2021.
“One thing that we should remember is that Jofra Archer needs to give his elbow some time to recover. He is putting him all commitments for the National team before everything else. I am happy that he went back home & is having well deserved rest. He is getting his elbow injury properly treated because it is tough having that injury & playing cricket. I think for the long term of his career this is the best option he has chosen”, Ben Stokes said.
The second ODI between India & England will be played at the Maharashtra Cricket Stadium on Friday in Pune.
