Young talent of Karnataka Devdutt Padikkal continues his terrific form ahead of the IPL by registering his third successive century as Karnataka reached the quarterfinals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy with a massive 10 wickets win over Railways in Group C in Bengaluru on Sunday.
The RCB opener batsman scored his career best 152 runs against Odisha followed with 126 not out when Karnataka faced Kerala in their last match where he smashed nine sixes & six boundaries in his stint of 145 not out from 125 balls. Devdutt along with Captain Ravikumar Samarth helped Karnataka to chase the target of 285 runs with 57 balls in spare at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
By clinching a massive victory Karnataka reached top spot of Group C & qualified for the quarter finals while Uttar Pradesh finished second after their six wickets win over Odisha at the Just Cricket Academy. Devdutt Padikkal who has registered two half centuries has the highest total of 572 runs scored from five matches with an average of 190.66.
The Railways bowlers were unable to break the outstanding partnership between Karnataka’s opening duo who successfully past 200 runs in just 29.5 overs as they chase a huge target comfortably. Devdutt Padikkal batted outstandingly by scoring fifty runs off 60 balls & then he stepped up & registered his fifth List A Century in another 34 balls. Whereas for Railways opener batsman Pratham Singh’s 129 runs helped them to register a total of 289/9. Pratham Singh smashed 12 fours & three sixes in his brilliant knock scored from 138 balls.
Karnataka kept troubling Railways by fetching wickets at regular intervals but the Railways Opener batsman didn’t lose his calm & ensured that they can put up a decent target.
