Pakistan will play three ODIs & four T20Is in South Africa during April, Cricket South Africa announced on Friday. Pakistan will stay in a bio-secure environment & matches will be played at two venues-SuperSport Park in Centurion and the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. The series will hopefully bring to an end a home international season which is heavily affected by COVID-19. England has cut short their limited overs series in December over fears about the virus & Australia withdrew from a planned three match test tour which was scheduled to take place in March.
The only home International matches played by South Africa was during 2020/2021 season so far were three T20Is against England and two Test matches against Sri Lanka. South Africa recently completed a two match Test series in Pakistan & are currently involved in a T20I series in Pakistan.
Cricket South Africa Director of Cricket Graeme Smith thanked the Pakistan cricket Board for agreeing to play an additional T20I after it had originally planned just three matches in that format would be held.
“Pakistan has proved their status over the years as one of the most dangerous limited-overs teams and I’m sure they will give the Proteas a stern test on the Highveld,” said Smith.
