Prithvi Shaw on Thursday scored his Maiden List A double Century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy group stage match between Mumbai & Puducherry.
Prithvi Shaw has completed his double century in 142 deliveries at a strike rate of 140.85. The 21 year old hit 27 boundaries & four sixes. Prithvi Shaw is the fourth batsman to register a double century in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He is the eight Indian to score a list A double century. Shaw who remained unbeaten on 227 runs off 152 balls, registered the highest score by a Captain in men’s List A cricket. He is leading Mumbai team for the first time ever his match against Puducherry. Prithvi Shaw’s unbeaten 227 runs is also the highest individual score scored in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Prithvi Shaw’s brilliant double century as well as Suryakumar Yadav’s 133 runs off 58 balls helped Mumbai to put a target of 457/4. The batsman represented team India in the recently ended four match test series against Australia.
Prithvi Shaw was selected in the team for the Opening Test but he failed to do well after being dismissed for a duck & dour runs in both the innings. Prithvi Shaw did not get an opportunity to play in the remaining three test matches of the series with Shubman Gill handed an opportunity due to Prithvi Shaw’s poor performance in the first test against Australia.
Prithvi Shaw has not been included in the Indian squad for the upcoming five match T20I series against England. The group stage matches in the ongoing edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy will end on March 01.
They will be followed by the Eliminator & four quarter finals respectively. While the Eliminator match will be held on March 7 the four quarter finals will be held on March 8 & March 9. The semi-finals and final will be held on March 11 and 14 respectively.
