Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed & ten other players were not allowed to board commercial flights for Abu Dhabi via Doha for PSL 6.
According to reports from ESPNcricinfo, all the 11 players & officials were denied from boarding commercial flights going from Lahore & Karachi to Abu Dhabi via Doha because they didn’t have the required clearances to board the flights as per the restrictions in place on travelers to the UAE amid COVID-19 pandemic.
“Five players from this PSL contingent were given green signal to fly, while the other players had to return back to their hotels where they have been in quarantine since May 24”, read the report of ESPN.
More than 25 people from Lahore & Karachi were slated to travel to the UAE on a chartered plane. But later the PCB decided to put them on commercial flights which nullified the quarantine protocols in place. PCB didn’t specify the reason for the change in their travel plans.
11 Players & officials will now be traveled through Bahrain to Abu Dhabi
More than 11 players & Officials who were denied permission to board commercial flights headed to Abu Dhabi via Doha will now be traveled through Bahrain to Abu Dhabi later tonight stated PCB in an Official statement. PCB also announced that the players & support staff had boarded the flights & all the formalities had been taken care of. A major hurdle in the commencement of the PSL 6 has been overcome with the players given permission to travel through Bahrain.
Around 202 players including support staff & other officials from Pakistan are already in Abu Dhabi for the PSL 6 who have traveled to UAE through the Chartered flight on May 27. According to reports, there are still many individuals including support staff who are still left to get UAE visas.
In UAE the quarantine tenure differs based on the country from which the person has traveled. The people traveling from Pakistan have to spend seven days in Quarantine right from the check-in day while people traveling from South Africa & India who are a part of production & support staff will spend ten days in quarantine.
