Team India fought like a warrior as they beat Australia in Decider Test on Tuesday to win the Border-Gavaskar Test series with 2-1 score.
It was the first time that Australia have lost match at the Gabba since 1988. India’s head Coach Ravi Shastri delivered an inspiring speech in the dressing room after the historic victory, applauding some of the key performers from the Gabba Test match & the series in general. Shastri appreciated the team for the relicense & spirit they showed to come back from the Adelaide debacle & win the series to retain the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
He then lavished praise on Shubman Gill for his outstanding 91 runs. He hailed Cheteshwar Pujara who faced several blows to the body for his 211 ball 56 runs in India’s second Innings as the “ultimate warrior”. He told Rishabh Pant that he was “simply outstanding” despite of giving some heart attacks during his batting.
Rishabh’s unbeaten 89 runs knock has led India towards glorious victory but during the end of the chase when India had to raise scoring tempo there were few occasions where it seemed like the left hander was going to get out. But Pant managed to stay at the crease till the end & hit winning runs for India.
Ravi Shastri also praised Washington Sundar & T Natarajan as well as Shardul Thakur saying that Thakur & Sundar’s 123 run partnership in India’s first innings was the main thing which “broke Australia’s back”. India have now won two back to back Test series in Australia. The series win also saw India climbing up to the top spot of the ICC World Test Championship Points Table.
