You all might be thinking what’s new milestone is Ashwin going to achieve? So to end your curiosity, let us tell you that Ravichandran Ashwin is nominated for the “ICC Player of the Month Award”.
India’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin along with England’s Captain Joe Root & West Indies new batting Sensation Kyle Mayers were nominated for the ICC Player of the month award on Tuesday for their exceptional performances in the month of February. Ashwin played three Tests against England & scored 106 runs in the second innings of India’s Second Test match in Chennai & also scalped his 400th Test Wicket in the third test to guide India to a glorious victory in Ahmedabad.
“Scoring a total of 176 runs across these games with taking a total of 24 wickets, Ashwin is the deserving candidate to be nominated in the men’s category for February,” the ICC release stated.
“England Test captain Joe Root makes it to the list of nominations again this month for his outstanding performance with the bat and the ball. He scored a total of 333 runs and took 6 wickets overall in the 3 Tests that he played against India,” it further stated.
Joe Root started the series with a mind blowing 218 runs in the first test against India & picked up his maiden five wickets haul in the Pink Ball Test against India. From the West Indies, Test debutant Mayers played two test matches against Bangladesh & had a match winning knock of 210 runs to help his team successfully chase a huge target of 395 runs in Chittagong.
In the Women’s Section, Tammy Beaumont & Nat Sciver of England along with brooke Halliday of New Zealand have been nominated.
