Ravichandran Ashwin stops “Gayle’s Storm” after 26 Run Over in Yesterday’s Clash!

The clash between KXIP & Delhi Capitals was a treat for all the cricket lovers as the match between the two teams turned into a mini contest between KXIP’s Gayle & DC’s Ashwin with the latter stopping West Indies batsman & sending him back to the pavilion after he had already hit some smashing sixes & created mess for DC.

Gayle had badly smashed Tushar Deshpande’s deliveries for 26 runs in the fifth over of the innings with three fours & two sixes. His batting went as 4, 4,6,4,6 when Ashwin came on to bowl on sixth & the final over of the Power play. With the field still being restricted, Gayle looked to play over the infield on a straight ball by Ashwin & missed it completely. He was cleaned up through the gate & Delhi had a much needed breakthrough.

Chasing a stupendous total of 165 runs, KXIP lost Captain KL Rahul on an early 15 runs & were 24 for one at the end of the fourth over. Gayle’s onslaught meant that they crossed 50 runs in the next over but Ashwin put an end to the show on the second ball of his first over. Gayle joined KXIP late in the playing XI squad & he has played only three out of the 10 matches that the team has played.

In today’s match he was in full form after hitting 53 runs in his first IPL 2020 match against RCB & then a six off the first ball followed by a boundary in a historic second Super Over against Mumbai Indians to help KXIP cross the target & register a thrilling Super Over win against RCB.
