Former Australia Captain Ricky Pointing on Tuesday shared the picture of his favorite bat on Twitter. He used this bat the most in his career & also said that the bat is completely worn out because of excess usage.
The outstanding bat has helped Pointing to scored two centuries in his 100th test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground. “Five international hundreds with this baby, four of them against South Africa. The 120 and 143* were made in my 100th Test at the SCG. And the 164 was made in the famous 434 v 438 ODI at the Wanderers. Used it for as long as I could and as you can see it’s pretty worn out”, Ricky Pointing captioned the picture on Twitter.
Pointing managed to score 164 runs in a match against South Africa in 2006 & guided Australia to 434 runs in an ODI match. But it was the bad luck of Australia that the team was defeated by South Africa as the latter scored the highest run in the 50 over format of the game.
Ricky Pointing scored whopping 27,486 runs for Australia in his International Career and has also lead his country in all the three formats of the game. No Australian batsman has scored more International centuries than the Australian skipper.
Ricky Pointing has also led Australia to hail two World Cup victories in 2003 & 2007. He played his last Test match in 2012. He is the second-highest run-scorer in the history of the longest format of the game with an unbeatable 13,378 runs.
Currently Pointing is coaching IPL franchise Delhi Capitals as he is the head coach of the Delhi Capitals Franchise.
