Rishabh Pant has revealed that former India Captain MS. Dhoni is his mentor. He further said that the World Cup-winning Captain has his own unique way of helping others and solving the problems of young talent in the squad.
Calling MS.Dhoni as his mentor, wicket-keeper cum batsman Rishabh Pant says that Dhoni has an interestingly unique way of solving the problems of young talent in the squad as he never gives a full solution to your problems, thereby encouraging them to look for answers. Rishabh Pant was the heir apparent to Dhoni until KL Rahul took his place and emerged as an outstanding wicket-keeper batsman in the limited-overs format of the game thereby making Rishabh’s place uncertain in the playing eleven squad.
“Dhoni has been like a mentor to me both on and off-field, I can approach him freely with any problem which I am facing and he never gives me the entire solution for it,” Rishabh Pant said in an Instagram live session with his IPL team Delhi Capitals.
“He gave half solution because he doesn’t want me to become entirely dependent on him, he gives me important hints that help me to solve the issues by myself. The occasion when we both come together on the field is rare and it doesn’t happen too often but he is also one of my favourite batting partners.
“When Mahi bhai is on the pitch we know that things are sorted. He has got a plan in his head and all we have to do is to follow it!” Dhoni who is out of the cricket field since last year’s July was all set to make a comeback with the IPL 2020 which now got postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic.
The Former India Spinner Harbhajan Singh thinks that Dhoni has already played his last game for the country, he was referring to World Cup 2019 Semifinal.
