Riyan Parag, a young Assamese Cricketer led Rajasthan Royals to a spectacular win against SunRisers Hyderabad on a celebratory note with a smashing boundaries & six. Rajasthan Royals defeated SRH by five wickets in an exciting clash played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in UAE.
SRH set a 159 run target which Rajasthan Royals had to chase. Things were not going well for Rajasthan Royals who lost crucial wickets. However Parag & Rahul Tewatia saved their team’s ship to drown in the sea by stitching a partnership of unbeaten 85 runs from 12th over onwards. After the match, Riyan Parag gave a crash course to Tewatia teaching him a basic move of the traditional Assamese dance.
In the video, Riyan Parag explained that he was motivated to do the dance due to the net bowlers who were also present in the stadium. He revealed that some of them were from Assam & were cheering for him. “They were there. So, for them, I did it in the heat of the moment,” he quipped. The youngster had performed the dance in the last season also.
Parag emerged as a star batsman by scoring an unbeaten knock of 42 runs off 26 deliveries with an innings comprising of two fours & two sixes. Tewatia completed an unbeaten knock of 45 runs in just 28 balls. He also smashed four fours & sixes. Bihu is a traditional folk dance from Assam which is usually performed during the Bihu festival. It is usually performed in a group, consisting of female and male dances, who showcase quick steps and fast hand movements.
After winning this match Rajasthan Royals are currently sixth in the IPL Points Table after playing seven matches. They have won three fixtures & lost two matches. Meanwhile, SRH are fifth on the points table after playing seven games. They have registered three victories & four losses. In their next match, Steve Smith led Rajasthan Royals will face Delhi capitals on October 14. SRH face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on September 13.
