Rohit Sharma after getting a perfect start got out poorly but he didn’t give up! His brilliance in fielding helped India to dismiss Jason Roy for a Run-out & gave India its major breakthrough in the second ODI in Pune.
Chasing a mammoth total of 336 runs, Jonny Bairstow & Jason Roy gave visitors a solid start, adding a second consecutive century partnership for the opening wicket. Jonny Bairstow wanted to score a quick single after hitting Kuldeep’s delivery towards a mid-wicket but an active Rohit Sharma stretched himself on the ground to collect the ball & threw it straight away to Rishabh pant who clipped the bails ending Jason Roy’s batting stint at 55 runs. The BCCI’s Official Twitter handle praised Rohit’s brilliant acrobatic effort that sent Jason Roy back to the pavilion.
After losing his opening partner, Bairstow continued to score big & smash Indian bowlers for sixes & fours. To support Bairstow’s 124 runs knock his partner Ben Stokes scored a whirlwind knock of 99 runs. Together the duo guided visitor’s towards a series-levelling glorious victory.
Earlier India finished the first innings on a huge total of 336/6 from 50 overs against England. KL Rahul scored his fifth ODI century while Virat Kohli & Rishabh Pant peeled off impressive half-centuries. The decider ODI match will be played on Sunday, 28th November at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
