Yesterday Rajasthan Royals registered a thrilling win over Delhi Capitals, all thanks to heroics with the bat from Chris Morris. After playing a quick-fire knock of 36 runs off 18 balls. RR all-rounder Chris Morris said that he is a slogger who can swing anything as he plays much golf.
David Miller’s 62 runs knock followed by Chris Morris 36 runs cameo helped Rajasthan Royals to beat Delhi Capitals by three wickets at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. With 27 runs required off the final two overs. Morris stepped ahead & hit two consecutive sixes to take his team over the line with two balls to spare. He hit two consecutive sixes in the final over & accumulated 15 runs from it.
“I thought Delhi bowled really well. David played an unplayable knock. It’s T20 cricket anything can happen in the end. Fortunately, it went our way in the end”, Morris said in the post-match presentation. “There are guys who get paid to bat & there are guys who get paid to slog, I know what I am. I am a slogger that swings everything I can as I play so much golf”, Morris added.
Morris also said that DC bowled better than RR & they hit the right areas in the game. “Dew plays a part here at the Wankhede. It does start to skid on. They hit the back of the length much better than we did. Our guys are experienced in taking pace off the ball & they really executed well today. If we had to chase a total of 140 when we are here at Wankhede, we would have taken it. So happy to get over the line & win the match for my side”, he said.
When Morris was asked about the single run which Sanju denied in the previous game, Morris said that “I was gonna run back no matter what to sacrifice because Sanju was hitting the ball so sweetly. Sanju was playing the ball like a dream. I wouldn’t have been too upset if he had hit the last ball for a six”.
He further said that as a team they have learned much from their last game. “Chasing a huge target of 222 runs was a great deal & getting so close to the target as we did is not easy. We have definitely taken a lot out from our first match. It’s quite nice to know that we can win a match from anywhere after being down in the dumps. That’s T20 Cricket”, he added.
In yesterday’s match, a restricted bowling performance by Jaydev Unadkat, Morris & Mustafizur Rahman has helped Rajasthan Royals restrict Delhi Capitals to an average total of 147/8 in 20 overs. Delhi Capitals kept losing wickets at regular intervals & though DC Captain Rishabh Pant played a scintillating knock of 51 runs, Rajasthan Royals managed to keep control over their opposition & register a thrilling victory. Rajasthan Royals will next face Chennai Super Kings on Monday at the Wankhede Stadium.
