Shardul Thakur who is India’s bowler, received a grand reception as he returned home after registering a spectacular win in Australia.
Former India off-spinner Ramesh Powar took to twitter to share a video on Friday in which Shardul can be seen greeted by loud cheers from his fans & parents as he returned back home from Australia tour. Shardul was one of the star performers for team India who performed with both bat & ball as India put an end to Australia’s 32 year unbeaten fortress at the Gabba.
Shardul Thakur in second test scalped seven wickets & also played a crucial knock of 67 runs in the innings of the Gabba Test that helped India to reduce the first innings deficit under 50 runs. Shardul along with debutant Sundar scored 123 runs for seventh wicket down & in the process they helped India to break a 30 year old Test record for India at the Gabba held by former captain Kapil Dev and Manoj Prabhakar.
Kapil Dev & Prabhakar had scored 58 runs stand for the seventh wicket back in 1991 in Brisbane at Gabba but Washington Sundar & Thakur’s heroics with the bat in the 4th Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy helped India to break Australia’s fortress at the Gabba. Shardul Thakur was rewarded for his good performance in Australia as he was named in the 18 member Test squad for the upcoming home series against England. The first Test of the four-match series will begin on February 5 in Chennai.
